I've spent the better part of two decades working across more corners of the technology and business world than most people get to see in a career. Systems design, telecommunications, security software engineering, business analysis, customer experience, project and product management, data pipelines, CRM configuration, academic research; at some point the list got long enough that it became easier to just say there isn't much I haven't touched, and for any issues I haven't handled personally, I know some good places to point you. The MBA sits underneath all of it and keeps the business side honest, as it's one thing to build a technically elegant solution and entirely another to understand whether it actually serves the organization it's built for (or to be able to explain it to upper management).
I try to do both.

On the academic side, I've worked directly with faculty at the University of Kansas building large-scale data pipelines for peer-reviewed research in finance and corporate governance, which is some of the most technically demanding and rewarding work I've done. Two graduate degrees, Salesforce certifications, former PMP and Scrum Master certifications, and a firm belief that none of it matters if you can't explain it clearly to the person sitting across from you.

When I'm not working, you'll find me on the Lawrence Loop most mornings, somewhere between my fourth and fifth lap of the week. I spend a fair amount of time in the gym turning over whatever problem I'm working on, and probably more time than I should is spent reading, mostly nonfiction, current events, and any book that Steve Leonard had a hand in writing. I bowl well enough to have competed at a semi-pro level and golf badly enough that I'm genuinely an asset to any foursome that needs a morale boost.
